Every day there are a lot of tours which take you to Loch Ness and back in a day trip. You want to see that famous Loch with its myth around Nessie? That’s good, so go and see it. But if you have time, don’t do that in a day trip. It’s horrible. The trip takes nearly 12 hours, and for 9 of those hours you will be in the bus, watching the wonderful landscape, passing castles and ruins. But you should know that the bus won’t stop. It’s about 265 kilometers to go there and the bus driver needs every single minute. Then you arrive in Fort Augustus and you have the chance to go on a one hour boat-trip. But remember, Fort Augustus is at the end of Loch Ness, so what you will see within one hour? The whole Loch is more than 37 kilometers long.
But what to do if a day trip is that horrible? Take 3 or more days for your trip to the Highlands of Scotland. You won’t regret it. You could see Loch Ness, perhaps visit the Isle of Skye, wonder at Eileen Donan Castle and wander around Inverness, the Highland Capital. You would have time to enjoy whisky-tasting in one of the many distilleries in the North or in the Western Isles. There are different tours you can do, check it out.
